THE BEAUTIFUL SOULS
Site-Specific Immersive Performance. Haus der Statistik, Berlin (2021)

“A‘beautiful soul’ sees evil and baseness all around it but fails to see to what extent it participates in the perpetuation of that same order of things. The point is not that the world isn’t really evil, the point is that we are part of this evil world.” – Alenka Zupançiç, on Hegel, ‘Too much of not enough’

The Beautiful Souls is an exploration of perception - its social and political embodiments - and the ways in which we anticipate and give meaning to things. Together with 25 performers who are embedded among them, the audience are immersed in a sensorial dramaturgy that raises questions about the paradoxes of coexistence, ideology, desire, and the fragile boundaries between intimacy and alienation, love and hate; interdependency and antagonism.
